This Week in the World: Week 5

Happy Sunday! I wish it was as warm and lovely as the photo above here in London today. Alas, it’s another cold January day. With that said, we are counting down the days until it’s spring here in London and everything is in bloom. It’s one of my favorite times of year here- and I can’t wait to share it with another Atlas Adventures crew! Hello again! It’s an exciting week around here because the next Atlas Adventures trip goes on sale this coming Friday, January 28th! Haley, Victoria and I are hosting another group here in London this spring to show 22 of you around our city (and what we love most this particular season!) • I can’t get enough of this two part series from Brene Brown’s podcast with guest James Clear (the author of “Atomic Habits”). Both episodes are chalk full of so much good insight!

• As you’re reading this, I’m likely en route to my favorite antique shop that I’ve been to yet: Station Mill Antiques in the Cotswolds. Their selection is so well curated (it’s where I got the rug that’s in my kitchen and a few other favorites) and I’m hoping to find a few things for the new flat. I don’t typically come to the Cotswolds for just an afternoon… but we’ve decided to make a day of it, have lunch at Soho Farmhouse before and be back to London before dinner. If you love antiquing, I highly recommend checking the out when you’re in the UK!

• I’ve been eyeing this New York Times recipe: Red Curry Lentils With Sweet Potatoes & Spinach

• My boyfriend and I binged the entire second season of Cheer this last week and I had several thoughts… some of which were summed up in this article.

• I loved reading about these textile designers who are inspired by their travels and their heritage.

This Week in the World: Week 3

Hello from London! It’s great to be back and to feel like the new year has really kicked off. It’s been a busy week, as the day I landed at Heathrow I immediately started moving into my new flat (thankfully, it’s just a floor up from my previous one!) There’s still a lot to be done but I really love so much about the new space: having more room, lots of natural light and my favorite part…having an outdoor space with a view! I’ll be sure to share more as things come together.

• After much back and forth, tennis star Novak Djokovic is being deported and will not be able to play in the Australian Open after losing his visa appeal due to his failure to meet the country’s vaccination requirements.

WEEKLY FAVORITES

• The strides I’ve made when it comes to savings + retirement over the last year or two is something I’m really proud of (I used to not be the most responsible on this front!) I saved this Instagram post to share because I think the visual is really helpful for understanding how to prioritize saving and create a strategy accordingly (this account is a good follow in general!)

• On the topic of investing, I really enjoyed this podcast episode about “How to make ethical investing work for you.”

• I love Brene Brown’s work and am so excited about her latest book “Atlas of the Heart” (I picked up a copy recently and can’t wait to dive into it!)

• With so much design inspiration looking alike these days (at least to me!) I really loved this Victorian villa and how unique + interesting the decor is. It may not be my exact style, but I love that it has so much charming quirkiness and personality!
